Geospatial Technology for 4th through 12th Grade Educators
A two-day program of UNL Extension will give school teachers the skills they need to take the exciting world of satellite positioning technology to their students. This program addresses six essential elements and 18 standards in geography education, but GIS is not just for geographers. It is about exploring lots of information that is tied to specific places.
Participants will be given lessons as well as developing lessons for their respective grade levels, using GPS and GIS technology.
Instructors are Joseph J. Kerski, Education Manager at Environmental Systems Research Institute, and Cathy Weaver, UNL Extension Assistant who has extensive experience teaching global positioning workshops.
This workshop will take place on June 10 and 11 at North Platte Community College, North Campus Room 104.
